Dry Needling – the what and how
Dry needling is the stimulation of specific reactions in the target tissue for its therapeutic effect. Needles are placed in targeted points of the muscle or tissue to help release tension, relieve muscle pain or spasms.
Dry needling is effective for:
- chronic pain
- reducing tightness
- TMJ (jaw) conditions
- migraines
- plantar fasciitis
- preventing injury
- promoting recovery
- improving muscle activation
- pain management
Cupping – the what and how
Cupping is the use of suction cups which gather the tissues upwards and creates a vacuum. Cupping does leave marks, however, the duration of their visibility and depth of their colour vary due to muscles tightness, general health and so forth. This can also change over the course of treatments with marks becoming less prominent in colour or not staying present on the skin for long periods of time. Cupping:
- promotes circulation
- relieves muscle tension
- improves overall blood flow
- promotes cell repair
- boost the immune system
- may also help form new connective tissues/create new blood vessels in the tissue
